Richard Everett made a motion to accept the minutes to the last meeting.  Motion was seconded by Alfred Baker.   Motion carried.

We discussed the LEPC Compliance letter that has to be submitted to the state by October 1 and LEPC public notice that has to be put in the paper.  We have met most of the requirement except the public notice and sending all agendas and minutes to the Commission on Emergency Planning and Response.

The Kansas Emergency Management Association Conference will be September 13 to 16 in Topeka, Kansas.

We discuss the changes to the Emergency Management Performance Grant requirements.  We have to have some additional training and more exercises. This starts now, we have to meet the requirements before we receive the grant funds for this year.

The group would like the ICS 300 class be on a Monday-Tuesday or a Thursday-Friday.

Carolyn Henry from Garden City Area Chapter of American Red Cross stated the Garden City Area Chapter has increased to include 33 counties in their support area.  This includes most of the western part of the state. Red Cross closed 9 offices in Kansas and has decreased their employees by 20.  They no longer have a Health and Safety person in Garden City.   They are going to try and conduct Disaster classed this fall.

Bonnie Deiter is the new Superintendent for USD 214.  She said school is going well so far.

Richard Everett, Southwest Kansas Health Initiative, stated they had the end of the fiscal year things completed and will have some grant money for next year but it has been decreased.

Kristy Frazee, Grant County Health Department Administrator, stated they had been busy with kindergarten physicals and immunizations.  They have 3 audits coming up. The Health Department also needs to do a Point of Distribution Exercise.

The group decided to skip the September meeting because of different meetings at the same time and make the next meeting October 20, 2011.

Carolyn Henry made a motion to adjourn and Kristy Frazee seconded. Meeting was adjourned at 12:38 PM.

Minutes respectfully submitted by Vivian Button.
