Minutes
Don Button called the meeting to order at 11:35 AM with six
members present, Alfred Baker, Don Button, John Crosby, Jerry Jo Deckert,
Richard Everett, Kristy Frazee, and one guest, Cathy Hernandez.
Jerry Jo Deckert made a motion to accept the minutes to the
last meeting with one correction on the title of the page change agenda to
minutes. Motion Seconded by Alfred Baker. Motion carried.
The FAD Survey needs to be completed by Noon on March 18.
Mitigation Plan is totally approved all resolutions have
been completed.
National Weather Storm Identification and spotter training
on April 4, 2011, State tornado drill was held on March 10th.because
of severe weather in some areas and ice and snow in others. The March 8
training was canceled because of the ice and snow.
Cathy Hernandez, the new Southwest Kansas Regional
Coordinator, was introduced.
State 800MHz tower project has been approved. The state with
the help of Kansas Regional Councils has found the $3.5 million to complete the
project.
LEPC Survey that was e-mailed out needs to be completed by
March 25. The Survey is from the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC)
subcommittee formed under the Commission on Emergency Planning and Response
(CEPR). They are looking at the problems that LEPCs face and identify the
solutions and put those solutions to action, so the problems can be resolved.
Debris Management Plan was not approved, FEMA list 3 things
that needed to be changed or added.
Upcoming training G400 -Advanced ICS March 23-24 Meade, May
3-4 Goodland, May 10-11 Wichita: MGT 317 -Disaster Management for Public
Service March 29-30 Dodge City; PER 211 -Medical Management of CBRNE Events
April 12-13 Hays; IS 288 -The Role of Volunteer Agencies in Emergency
Management, Russell March 30; EMSAK Conference March 31 ? April 1 Russell; and Resource
leader April 19 to 22 in Ulysses.
Remember the Pioneer Communications and Pioneer Electric
Cooperative Inc Health Fair March 26.

John Crosby, Grant County Fire Department, said the Fire
Fighter 1 class here has fourteen enrolled, nine from Grant County, three from
Stanton County and two from Finney County. Three fire fighters have completed
the Confined space training. The reorganized Rescue Squad now has eleven
members.
Alfred Baker stated the updated Community Emergency Response
Team Training has been released in English and Spanish.
Jerry Jo Deckert stated EMS will be holding a Pre-Hospital
Trauma Life Support class on March 26 and 27.
Kristy Frazee, the new Health Department Administrator,
stated they are working on Grants and will be at the health fair. They are also
still giving flu shots.
Cathy Hernandez stated the Kansas Civil Support Team is now
going to be an all-hazards response instead of weapons of mass destruction
response. They can be requested through Kansas Division of Emergency
Management.
Jerry Jo Deckert requested a G300-Intermediate Incident
Command System Class and a G400-class Advanced Incident Command System Class be
set up sometime this fall in Ulysses.
The next meeting will be April 21 at 11:30AM.
Motion to Adjourn was made by John Crosby. Motion seconded by
Alfred Baker.
