The group viewed the video from KDEM Local
Elected Officials Orientation to Emergency Management and Local Emergency
Planning Committee. Bill Powers
stated it was a very good video.
The Regional Foreign Animal Disease Response
Plan was discussed. The KEMA Area VI Coordinators meet and discussed setting up
a Focus Group to help collect information and set up the Regional Response
Plan. This Focus Group should include
Commissioners, Law Enforcement, Vets, Extension, Packers, Producers swine and
cattle, Health Department, Wildlife and Parks.
It will work on Roles and Responsibilities during a disaster whether it
is Natural or Manmade.
We have received the ok to start ordering
equipment for the 2002 DOJ Grant.
John Crosby and Don Button attended an
Air-Monitoring Class in Wichita the first of
February.
Grant County received an HEMP
Grant for Advance Haz-Mat Life Support Training. We have six people, two from EMS, two from
Hospital and two from Health Department, going to Wichita on March 6 and
7.
Discussed the
Homeland Security and the Alert Level Orange. Homeland Security has set up a web site for
people to get information it is www.ready.gov.
The up coming Disaster Exercise was discussed.
Don did a presentation about Emergency
Management to the Exxon Mobil.
Severe Weather Spotters Training by Dodge City
National Weather Service will by on March
18, 2003 at 7:00 PM in the Lawson
Room of the Civic Center. This training is open to the public.
The Next LEPC Meeting will be March 20, 2003.
