The 2nd public hearing for the Mitigation Plan
was held on August 10 at 10:00AM. The Public can make comments until August 20
and then on August 26 after corrections it will be submitted to the state for
approval. After the state approves the plan it will have to go before the
Board of County Commissioners, City Council and the School District for
resolutions of approval.
Debris Management Plan revisions have been completed. After some of the
departments look over the plan it will be submitted back to State of Kansas and
FEMA for approval.
All Emergency Dispatch and hospitals in the region have 800
MHz radios. They may not all be installed yet. Grant County?s tower has been
digitized.
The next Regional Council meeting will be September 1. They
are trying to complete the FY08 and FY09 grants and are working on the paperwork
for FY10.
In January we will start going over our Local Emergency
Operations Plan. We will look at the basic plan at the first meeting and then
at least one ESF (Emergency Support Function) each month.
Interviews for a new Regional coordinator will be on August
27.
The August CERT class did not make. We are trying to set up
another class starting in October that will meet on Mondays. We are also
working with Johnson to set up a class over there.
Jerry Jo Deckert stated the Grant County Fire Department
will be holding a First Responder Class that is sponsored by Grant County EMS.
The class will be held on Monday and Thursday from September 20 thru November
11 at Grant County EMS. There is a cost for this class. EMS also held an
Advanced Cardiac Life Support class. Nine health care providers completed the
class.

to conduct Point of Distribution (POD) Exercises this year again. Most of
these will be done with Flu vaccinations. The H1N1 flu shot will be included
