January 21, 2010 Grant County Local Emergency Planning Committee Minutes
Don Button called the meeting to order at 12:00 PM with 14 members present. Members present were Don Button, Richard Everett, Jerry Deckert, Marshall Lewis, John Crosby, Dan Bynum, Frank Goldsby, Alfred Baker, Art Frable, Sheila Brown, Janet Thomeczek, Richard Banes, and Alan Olson.
Jerry J Deckert made a motion to accept the minutes to the last meeting. Motion Seconded by Al Baker. Motion carried.
Jerry Jo Deckert made a motion to retain the same officers for 2010. Marshall Lewis seconded. Chair- Don Button, Vice-Chair –Alfred Baker, Secretary- Vivian Button.
The Continuity of Operations Training on the 13th was not well attended. We will be contacting the county departments to complete the online forms.
“Every Business Should have a Plan” booklets were available.
Upcoming Trainings are IS244 Developing and Managing Volunteers March 9-10 in Ulysses and G908 Joint Information System/Joint Information Centers in Satanta on April 20-22. Update the IS244 training has been canceled due to a scheduling conflict.
Southwest Kansas Regional Emergency Planning Council has received a grant for two exercise trailers with equipment which we should receive by the end of February.
Janet Thomeczek invited emergency services to do a walk thru at the hospital.
Richard Everett and Sheila Brown talked about the Health Department doing a POD (Point of Distribution) at Sullivan School on January 28th. The Health Department is still working on H1N1 and flu vaccine. 2,448 H1N1 vaccines have been given out in Grant County. Sheila Brown is the new Health Department Administrator.
Jerry Deckert talked about EMS teaching a PALS class in Stevens County. EMS has been very busy and the hospital transition is going well with all of the changes.
John Crosby talked about an Ice Rescue class February 6 and 7. The county purchased a 6 wheel ranger for rescue which the city will house at Frazier Park.
Next meeting date is February 18 at 12:00 Noon at the Grant County Courthouse.
A motion to adjourn was made by Janet Thomezcek, seconded by Jerry Deckert. Meeting Adjourned at 12:50 PM.
