LOCAL EMERGENCY PLANNING COMMITTEE Minutes for November 19, 2009
Vivian Button called the meeting to order at 12:03 PM with 6 members present. Members present were Richard Everett, Frank Goldsby, Marshall Lewis, Nahum Manzano, Sharon Phelps and Vivian Button. Don Button was at the Civic Center at the Planning Section Chief Training.
Vivian read the minutes to the October meeting. Sharon Phelps made a motion to approve the Minutes of last meeting. Frank Goldsby seconded. Motion carried
Sharon Phelps gave an update on the H1N1. H1N1 vaccinations have been given to everyone at school from Prep to 3rd grade that signed up. They usually get a shipment of vaccine once a week and are still targeting the high risk group. The high risk groups are pregnant women; care givers or household with babies under 6 months of age; health care provider including ambulance, physician and hospital personnel; children age 6 months to 4 years of age; and children from 5 to 18 years of age with medical conditions. Today was Anita Quimby’s last day and Lynette Metcalf will be the interim Health Department Administrator.
Richard Everett stated that Grant County and Stanton County are going together to order the vaccine because you have to order in lots of 100.
The Regional Council has taking the funds from their Patient tracking project and put the funds into the interoperable communication. They will try to get 800 MHz radios for law enforcement and fire department in the region.
EF-m consulting is working on updating our Mitigation Plan. After the first of the year they will set up meeting dates to update information.
The State has purchased a web based County Continuity of Operation Plan (COOP). Training will be in Ulysses on January 13. This will help organizations who are trying to write a COOP and teach how to input the data.
Some upcoming training are: IS 300 class in Meade on November 23 and 24; IS 400 class in Goodland on December 17 and 18 or Meade on January 20 and 21; G908 Joint Information Systems/Joint Information Centers in Satanta on April 20 thru 22; and IS 244 Developing and Managing Volunteers in Ulysses on March 9 and 10; and the National Weather Service Storm Identification and Spotter class on March 9 at 7:00 PM.
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training has been set up for February 19 & 20 and March 5 & 6. Both of these are a Friday night and Saturday.
Memorial Park has been decorated by responders. The Chamber will light the park on November 28 at 7:00 PM.
NIMS training can still be completed online. All organizations should complete the IS-700, IS-100 and IS- 200.
Nahum Monzano stated BP was finishing end of year things and looking at project for next year. BP has a new Operations Center Manager.
Marshall Lewis from Area Mental Health stated they have an on call system and someone is available 24 hours a day. Their contract is up in December with their phone answering service and they are looking at their options.
Next meeting will be January 21, 2010. The committee decided to not have a meeting in December.
Frank Goldsby made a motion to adjourn. Marshall Lewis seconded. Motion carried.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:35 PM.
