LOCAL EMERGENCY PLANNING COMMITTEE Minutes December 4, 2008

Don Button called the meeting to order at 12:15 PM. Members present were Alfred Baker, Jeff Baier, Don Button, Roger Gardner, Nahum Manzano, Alan Olson, Sharon Phelps,  and Terry Crosby.

A Motion was made to approve the Minutes of last meeting by Al Baker. Motion Seconded by Roger Gardner.  Motion carried

Discuss was held on NIMS training.  How many more had accomplished the training and that all County and City employees should take the IS-700, IS-100 and IS-200.  These can be taken on line at www.fema.gov. Don will be setting up some classes for the Incident Command 300 and 400 after the first of the year.

We are continuing to work on Resource Typing for our NIMS compliance. We have received the City of Ulysses information.  Next we will be working on letters and information to send to private industries to help with what is available in the area.

We are also working on our Continuity of Operations (COOP) Plan for the County and City.  Grant County received a $16,000 grant to revise the Mitigation Plan for city and county.

Red Cross will hold a Community Shelter operations class January 5^th 3PM and 6PM. I believe it will be about two hours long.

The next Southwest Kansas Regional Trauma Council Trauma Talk ITV Training will be on December 9th from 12 to 1 at Bob Wilson Grant County Memorial Hospital.  It will be about Field Triage Guidelines.

An update and discuss was held on Regional Council FY08 and FY09 funding projects.

Don talked about we need to form an Exercise Committee.  To be compliant with grant funds we receive, we need to have one functional or 2 table top exercises in 2009.  These exercises have to be approved by the state three months in advance.  We are looking at doing an exercise with the school.  Please contact Don if you would like to be on this committee.

The next Meeting will be on January 15, 2009 at 12:00 Noon. Lunch will be on your own. You are welcome to bring it with you.

Roger Gardner made a motion to adjourn.  Alfred Baker seconded.  Motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:40 PM.
