LOCAL EMERGENCY PLANNING COMMITTEE Minutes

September 25, 2008

 

Vivian Button called the meeting to order at 12:08 PM. Don Button was at a Regional Council Meeting in Garden City.  Members present at the meeting were Jerry Jo Deckert, Jeff Baier, Todd Hampton, Frank Goldsby, Randy McCauley, Sharon Phelps and the hospital’s new representative Janet Thomeczek.  One guest Holly Hagerman.

 

Jerry Jo Deckert made a motion to approve the Minutes of the last meeting. Motion seconded by Jeff Baier.  Motion carried

 

National Incident Management System (NIMS) Compliance was discussed. All First Responders and City and County employees are required to have at a minimum the ICS-100, ICS-200 and the IS-700.

 

Part of the NIMS Compliance is Resource Typing.  Grant County Road and Bridge has submitted their paperwork, the City of Ulysses is working on theirs as well as several other county departments.

 

We have not set a date for the Red Cross Community Shelter operations class.  Some of their people are deployed to Texas.

 

CERT Class starts September 29.  We had our informational meeting on September 22.  Eight students are enrolled.

 

Citizen Corps Conference Oct 3, 4, 5 in Salina Kansas.

 

ICS 400 class in Satanta October 8 & 9 and a Donations Management Workshop on Oct. 10 at Pioneer Communications. The Fourth “P” Workshop Partnerships for Preparedness in SW Kansas October 16 in Garden City.  To attend theses classes you sign up on   KS.train.org.

 

Upcoming training in Garden City: Command Class October 22 & 23,  Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Class October 24 & 25, Anatomy of a disaster October 23 and Disaster Preparedness Conference for Hospital Leadership at St. Catherine Hospital Oct 24. To sign up contact KUMC S. W. Area Health Education Center in Garden City. These classes will also be offered in Salina October 6 thru 10.

 

South west Kansas Regional Trauma Council Trauma Talk ITV Training at the Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital Oct 22 7:45-8:45AM “The Role of a Level III Trauma Center in the Community and the Impact on Patient Care” and Nov. 4 12:00 Noon to 1:00 pm “Trauma Patient Assessment-The First Few Minutes:  The things you need to know in the field.”

 

30 minute Web demonstration of reverse 911 notifications on September 30 at 11:00 AM in the Emergency management Office

           

Jerry Jo Deckert stated EMS is sponsoring a (PALS) Pediatric Advance Life Support class on October 24 and 25.  The cost is $125.00 a person.  Contact Grant County Emergency Medical Services.  They are also holding a Kansas Enhancement Class on September 27.

 

Sharon Phelps, Grant County Health Department, stated Flu Season is coming.  They are getting ready to start giving Flu Shots on October 13.

 

Janet Thomeczek, Bob Wilson Grant County Memorial Hospital, stated they are sending a couple of people to Anniston, Alabama for training and they will be having a disaster drill before the end of the year.

 

Randy McCauley, Grant County Road and Bridge, stated with the recent accidents they are trying to be as safe as possible.

 

Discussion was held about October 16, the next meeting date, because of all of the training this month the date was set for October 30th at Noon at the Grant County Fire Department.

 

Todd Hampton made a motion to adjourn.  Jerry Jo Deckert seconded.  Motion carried.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 12:38 PM.
