Minutes to the August 15, 2002 meeting.

 

July 25, 2002 meeting postponed until August 15, 2002. Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM.  Members present Sherry Thompson, John Crosby, Sharon Phelps, Richard Banes Jr., Frank Goldsby, Tom Kramer, Charles Gregory, Al Baker, Don Button and Vivian Button.  One guest. 

I have to apologize there were no problems with the Minutes from the June meeting because I forgot to send them.  I am sending the June Minutes with the August minutes.  I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Hazard Analysis is coming along very well.  It should be done by November.  We discussed the main chemicals that are used in Grant County.

Grant County's Web page went on line on July 16, 2002.  the web site is www.Grantcoks.org.

Each department need to look at their part of the Local Emergency Operation Plan and update anything that needs to be changes.  Such as equipment, personnel or policy changes that have been made in the last year.

Don attended Exercise and Design in Derby July 16 thru the 19.  This has given him more insight into planning and developing.   The next exercise will be a functional.  A functional exercise is more involved than a table top but not as involved as full-scale.  

ICS/EOC training will be at the Civic Center in Ulysses on September 4-5, 2002.  43 people from around the state have already signed up for this class.  Don is going to school to become certified to instruct Incident Command System the week of the 19 of August.  The state has mandated that all Governmental and Emergency Officials use the Incident Command System.

Defensive Driving (Classroom) Course September 10, and 11, 2002 at the Civic Center starting at 6:00 PM both nights.

KEMA Conference September 18 to the 20th, 2002

Mitigation 20/20 is a state mandated Program. This program looks at how to prevent or reduce damages from major incidents or disasters. Grant County needs a task force made from Emergency Services, Public Officials, Industry and the Public to complete this program.  If interested please contact 620-356-4430.

The Health Department got their bio-terrorism template back.  We set up a task force to finalize the plan.  The task force includes Mike Deed, PA; Sherry Thompson, Don Button, John Crosby, Matt Traster, and Charles Gregory.

Talk about DOJ Grant – Orders need to be done by September 2, 2002.  Grant County was awarded approximately $15,000.  Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services,  Fire Department,  Emergency Management and the  Health Department will meet to discuss how best to use the funds

There will be no September meeting.  The Next meeting will be October 17, 2002.  November 21 will be the date of the November Meeting.

Meeting adjourned at 8:00 PM.   There was no disaster committee meeting.
