LEPC Meeting Minutes
Meeting Started 7:05 PM. Eleven
members were present.
Sherry Thompson, John Crosby, Jeff Baier, Alan
Olson, Richard Everett, Richard Banes, Marty Long,Tom Kramer, Don Button, Lance Babcock, and Vivian
Button.
We received written
confirmation of our Mitigation plan it was approved on Nov. 9, 2004.
Received the 2004 DOJ
Grant biannual paper work that need filled out.
Estimates will need to be gotten for each 2004 project.
County Emergency plans discussed
with Angie Morgan, Senior Planner for KDEM.
Angie Morgan is putting a team together with one or two representatives
from each region to develop template for all of the counties to use to update
their County Emergency plan.
Mass Fatalities in Weapons of Mass
Destruction Class will be held in Ulysses on April 13-15 at the Pioneer
Communications Multi-media Room.
KDHE and
Via Christi Regional Medical Center and others are conducting a class about Preparing
for Burn Disasters: A training Course for pre-hospital and hospital
professionals in Kansas. This course is in 7 locations from now until
April. It is in Garden City on February 12 at the Plaza Hotel, Colby
Community College on January 29,
and Hays on February 5. These are all on
Saturday, Registration and pre-test starts at 7:30
a.m. and it should wrap up at 5:30
p.m.
There will
be two National Weather Service Weather Spotter Training classes, 3:00 pm and 7:00
p.m., on March 8, 2005
at the Lawson Room at the Civic Center. Training should last one hour to 1½ hour.
Sherry
Thompson from the Health Department stated flu shots are still available. The Health Departments are getting ready to
update their Bio-terrorism Plans.
Everyone needs to check the last date of his or her Tetanus shot and
keep these updated. You should get a
Tetanus shot at least every ten years.
The five regional Health Departments will have a meeting on Tuesday,
January 25.
John Crosby
of the Fire Department stated all of the fire units are back in working
order. John is working with Garden City
Community College trying to set up a Fire Fighter II Class. The generators purchased with DOJ Grants
Monies have been tested and are working.
The County
Emergency Services, Health Department and Hospital would not be as prepared for
emergencies were it not for the Department of Justice Grant Monies.
Richard
Everett talked about equipment and supplies available to our county from the
Southwest Kansas Health Initiative. The
Grant County Health Department is a member of the Southwest Kansas Health
Initiative. Richard also talked about
equipment Northern Natural Gas has available to the area. MMRC and KDHE are also putting on a State
Exercise at the Kansas Speedway.
The
pipeline explosion was discussed. Marty
Long stated how nice it was that we had a generator to take to Sewell’s house
until they got the electricity turned back on.
Tom Kramer
from the Road Department stated they are working on getting the pump assemble
put on the tanker to have available to fill fire trucks quicker from the tanker
on site.
BP is
conducting a Safe Driving Awareness Day at the Grant
County Civic Center
on April 30, 2005 from 10 AM to 6 PM
