LEPC Meeting
Minutes
Don Button called the
meeting to order at 7:05 PM with 9 members
present.

We discussed the ODP
Projects for 2004. One project will be
enhancing the EOC. The main expense will be a standby generator. The second project will be acquiring
equipment to enhance our current inventory. This will mostly consist of
upgrading and standardizing our radio systems.
The department heads met and made these decisions.
Most of the 2005 ODP
Grant monies will go to the larger cities.
Discuss the Mass
Fatalities – Incident Response Course.
Don went to the class held in Hutchinson. He stated it covered a lot of issues like the
law enforcement roll, contaminate and burial, coroner operations, family assistance
and critical incident stress management as well as how Incident Command
works. It also looked at the local,
state and federal side of mass fatalities.
Don is on the Kansas
Division of Emergency Management training Cadre. The training Cadre will meet
July 13 and 14. Please let Don know by
July 12 of any training you would like brought to southwest Kansas. He will see if we can get the training to
this area.
Emergency Management has
available to borrow “Terrorism for Employees”.

Vivian attended the
Weapons of Mass Destruction Cameo course in Topeka in May. We discussed how CAMEO could be used in
cases of bombings or bio-terrorist incidents as well as everyday issues.
Emergency Management has
a double booth reserved at the Grant County Free Fair for emergency
services. July 21, 22,
and 23.
KEMA Conference will be
September 15,16,17 at the Holiday Inn in Manhattan. Training schedule will be announced
soon.
The computer and
software is in for the GIS system and it is up and going. Todd Hampton talked about the GIS
capabilities. He also stated that the
New City Administrator has plans of coming to the LEPC meetings as soon as he
gets settled. He seems to be very
interested in safety.
Sherry
Thompson stated the Health Department had done 45 kindergarten Physicals on
Thursday. She also stated that KDHE
recommended that everyone over the age of 6 months should get a flu shot. They have to report all Chicken pox cases to
KDHE now.
Richard Banes reported
that the vulnerability assessment of the Water Department has been completed
and sent.
Tom Kramer reported the Moscow Road Bridge project was
progressing nicely.
