The Board
of County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. with all members
and the County Clerk present.
The monthly
department head meeting was held with the following in attendance: Sean
Gooding, EMS Director; Nancy Ramski, Civic Center Building and Grounds Manager;
Rita Gee, Treasurer; Sherry Thompson, Health Department Administrator; Mary K.
Sullivan, Register of Deeds; Ron Lofland, Transfer Station Manager; Pete
Clinesmith, Noxious Weed Director; John Crosby, Fire Chief; Todd Hampton, City/County
Building Official; Don Button, Emergency Management Coordinator; Frank Goldsby,
Public Works Administrator; and Tom Kramer, Road Foreman.
Frank
Goldsby, Public Works Administrator, and Tom Kramer, Road Foreman, discussed
the possibility of cost sharing the purchase of a trailer to use for hauling
commodities for the Mexican/American Ministries. Mexican/American Ministries
has agreed to pay half the cost for the trailer. The decision was made that
this would be permitted if ownership of the trailer remains with the county.
The trailer can be used for other purposes too. The commissioners reviewed and
approved a road-crossing permit for Pioneer Communications.
Gene
Pflughoft, Economic Development Coordinator, discussed the possibility of the
health department moving to the old Duckwall building. He will research the
feasibility of this.
Douglas
Campbell, County Attorney presented a letter from Mr. Moran Tomson requesting
that Grant County allow Pioneer Electric to use Grant County right-of-way for
one mile of line, which will be approximately 11 poles. It was agreed that the
electric company would have to deal with the landowner in regards to placement
of poles on the property.
Don Button,
Emergency Management Coordinator presented quotes on a projector. Gene Schwein
made the motion to accept the bid from CDW-G for an InFocus Projector not to
exceed $1,988.99. Madison Traster seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Mr. Button gave the commissioners an update on the Emergency Management activities.
The National Weather Service would like to present Grant County with a Storm
Ready Award and Don scheduled a time to do it at the next City/County Luncheon.
Madison
Traster made the motion to reappoint Marieta Hauser to the Economic Development
Board. Gene Schwein seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Margaret
Alford, Magistrate Judge brought the commissioners up to date on the
legislative issue concerning one judge per county.
Madison
Traster made the motion to approve the minutes of the October 21 and 24, 2003
meetings and to approve the claims against the various funds of the county.
Gene Schwein seconded the motion. Following clarification of several vouchers,
the motion passed unanimously.
The
commissioners adjourned to meet again in regular session November 18, 2003.
